It’s a “Nutrition Plan”… not a diet!
People talk about diets vs healthy eating. To avoid criticism, I say I’m on a “nutrition plan”. In reality… I’m on a diet.
Right now I’m following a nutrition plan for 80 days – timed, portion controlled clean eating. I definitely won’t be doing this long term.
Here is why I like my diets (… er um… nutrition plans)…. They force me to try new foods because I’m being loyal to the plan. They cleanse me of junk foods and help me find delicious alternatives. It was through “diets” that I discovered baked plantains, cauliflower rice and sweet potato waffles for my carbs. It’s also how I found out about coconut aminos, nutritional yeast and tapioca flour to replace soy sauce, Parmesan cheese and corn starch respectively. Lastly, it’s how I developed a taste for natural peanut butter. I can no longer eat Jif or Skippy – it’s too yucky and sweet for me now! My nutrition plans teach me how to look at food differently so I can make better choices in the future.
On this day I needed to have 1 protein, 1 carb and 1 vegetable portion for breakfast. This is what I came up with – sweet potato waffles, poached eggs and spinach. So tasty, healthy and filling! You can bet I will continue to eat these foods at the end of 80 days! On to new and healthier eating habits for me!
