Telling Myself to GET OVER IT Already
October 11
My self pity party lasted TOO LONG! I was so upset about my injury. I kept thinking that people just didn’t understand how frustrating it was to not be able to do my big races this year.
Someone should have slapped me upside the head and tell me to GET OVER MYSELF.
I am not the first person to get sidelined with injury when attempting to hit a big goal. I won’t be the last one either.
When I stopped to look around at my friends and Betty teammates, I found TONS of examples of similar and even worse) setbacks. I decided to find inspiration in people who have been there, done that. My friend Dana, shattered her elbow several months ago and is finally getting to do her first 70.3 NEXT WEEK. My teammate Laurel was in an accident last year and she has worked an entire year to heal up and get strong for her 140.6 race THIS WEEKEND.
This list goes on ….
- I am so incredibly lucky that I was able to walk away from my bike accident.
- I am grateful that I was able to have a surgery that will give me full functionality back.
- I am grateful EVERY day for my family who help me by cutting my food or carrying a bag or washing dishes when I am struggling.
- I am thankful for my friend Krista who loaned me a one handed keyboard and cast cooler!
There are SO MANY things that I am thankful for. This is where I am focusing on now.
