Girl, Stop B*tching! {Girl, Stop Apologizing}
I recently saw a Facebook ad for Girl, Stop Apologizing and read the replies to it expecting to see lots of LOVE. Instead I was appalled by SO MANY negative replies on there! Even someone as bright and sunny as Rachel has her share of enemies I guess. Haters gonna hate! SHEESH!
I know that Rachel Hollis as a HUGE and extremely LOYAL following and while I won’t include myself as one of those die hards, I do think Rachel has a positive message, I enjoy listening to her podcast (Rise) and I LOVE what she has to say in her latest book.
What she shares is not rocket science; You’re not going to learn a lot of brand new information. You MAY not need to take notes. What Rachel does give you are honest and inspiring stories about her experience and a huge dose of tough love. I do enjoy Rachel’s writing style and I love that her audiobook is read by her.
I would compare this book to two others I’ve read:
- #GirlBoss by Sophie Amorusu – despite the fact that she bashes the term #girlboss in this book.
- You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
Rachel and Sophie are both self made women who know how to HUSTLE. Their stories on how they build their business from nothing is amazingly inspiring to me. Jen Sincero and Rachel give you a boost and encourage you to know your true worth.
I have to say I wasn’t a fan of Rachel’s first book, Girl Wash your Face most likely because I am way past where she is in life, I have two adult children and I’ve been with with my husband for twice as long as she has been with hers – I simply don’t need her advice on parenting and relationships. It’s a great book for young moms in young marriages however.
If you need a swift kick in the pants and inspiration and motivation to aspire and achieve to GREAT things, pick up this book for sure!
This is MY humble take on this book. Have you read Girl Wash your Face? I would love to read your thoughts in the comments below!
