How I use my Planner to Crush my Goals
This year Passion Planner came out with their daily version for the first time. While I was pretty attached to the original Passion Planner, I decided to try out the daily a few weeks ago. WOW… what a game changer. I found that by using this planner and customizing it just a little bit, I was able to be more intentional, more reflective and as a result be able to focus on getting my goals.
Here I share how the Passion Planner Daily looks and how I use it to crush my goals.
Overview of the Passion Planner Daily
First, let’s go over the Passion Planner Daily’s Features. For a detailed look at these pages you can download the full planner PDF for free on the Passion Planner website.
- Passion Roadmap – we are looking at 3 months to lifetime here. When I cast the vision of my life years ahead of me and keep that vision on top of mind, I find that I am intentional about my actions and that I steer them in the direction I want, rather than just letting things happen to me.
- Month – GameChanger Goal Page. I love how this page gives you room to create a mindmap with your goal and related tasks. Also it gives you prompts to guide you through the goal setting process.
- Year – these 4 pages has the months of the year represented verticially. Fill in the important events in this calendar and you will get a great overview of your year.
- Next is the sets of pages for each month. They contain:
- Blank Calendar
- End of Month Self Check-in
- GameChanger goal
- The last page in this section is called “Since you Started this planner” – this is the final check-in page for the planner. I call this the Quarterly Review Page.
- Daily Spreads – there are 93 these per books. Plenty of pages for a quarter’s worth of planning
- Upper left: has prompts to be completed before you start your day.
- Lower left: has reflections to be completed at the end of your day
- On the right hand side of the left page you have space to write your appointments and to timeblock activities.
- The right page is left for you to doodle, journal, write to do lists and more!

- Rituals
- Michael Hyatt calls rituals, recipes for success. You already have habits and daily rituals now. Formally defining, refining and enforcing their use for the 4 key times of the day will help you self-automate and be more productive.
- I am not the best at following my rituals but when I do, I always feel good at the end of the day and prepared to hit the ground running in the morning.
- getting those important morning and evening things done.
- Work startup and shutdown routines help me bookend my work day, which is especially important now since I’ve been working from home.
- Ideal Week
- What I love about the practice of defining the ideal week is that it helps me to know what can and cannot be done during my day.
- Before I defined my ideal week I used to beat myself up each night for not getting all my things done.
- By setting this up my ideal week, I learned what can realistically be done within the hours in the day.
- MICHAEL HYATT’s goal setting method
- YEARLY: 10 goals per year.
- QUARTER: 3-4 goals per quarter.
- WEEKLY Big 3 – These actions will advance me in my quarterly goals and big projects.
- DAILY Big 3 – Three most important tasks for the day – At least one of these should be related to my WEEKLY BIG 3.
- Quarterly Goals – Gamechanger Goal Pages
- These pages are meant to be per month but my goals are quarter-based so I fill all three of these pages out at the beginning of the quarter.
- I revew this page, especially “WHY” and the “VISUALIZE” sections weekly.
- Daily
- The DAILY BIG 3 – are the most important things I need to get done for the day, I write these under the “Gamechanger goal” section on the daily spread. At least one of these should help move me forward in my WEEKLY BIG 3 goals.
- Others listed in the DAILY BIG 3 could be related to an important projects, not necessarily goal related. The BIG THREE may contain an important item that must be completed that day.
- Weekly Review
- In the Full Focus Planners there are 4 pages dedicated to the weekly review. I had limited space here so I condensed it to a half a page. This works best for me.
So there you have it – you’ve seen how I leverage the passion planner for crushing my goals. As you saw, most of the bones are already in the planner. I customized it just a bit so it works perfectly for me.
